Welcome to our Rights Respecting Ambassadors
We are proud to be a Gold Rights Respecting School and we enjoy sharing our good practice with others. Throughout Pontybrenin, there are many Rights Respecting Ambassadors that help to promote the rights of the child. The ambassadors enjoy being excellent role models for the school and have taken part in and led many assemblies in both key stages.
Pupils in Pontybrenin know their rights and all take part in regular lessons that focus on specific ones. At the start of the year, each new class completes a new class charter that selects the rights that they think are most relevant to them.
Some of our achievements in school
Raising Money for Charity:
The Rights Respecting Ambassadors are a core component of raising money, especially in their annual ‘Day for change’. The children always think of innovative ideas in order to raise money that makes such a difference to people all over the world.
Collaborating with other schools:
Throughout each year, Pontybrenin relishes the opportunity to work with other schools; to share good practice and to gain new initiatives to try in school. The ambassadors have contributed extremely well to cluster events and projects that have taken them further afield.
Working in the community:
This year, some ambassadors visited a local care home to work with the residents. Both the children and the residents valued this experience and it developed into regular visits. The ambassadors are now looking at other ways that this new relationship can be developed and strengthened. They hope that they can organise an event in school in the future.
