Eco Council

Welcome to our Eco Council

Pontybrenin are very proud to have an Eco Council to help make our school as eco-friendly as possible. Our Eco counsellors applied for their posts in September and were voted in by their classmates.  Our Eco team work consistently hard to help our school and local area make better choices about our area which is currently so important.

Some of our achievements in school

Recycling:

The Eco council went on an audit around the school to check if every class had the correct amount of bins in order to recycle to the best of our ability. Our next step is to see which classes are the best at recycling!

Eco Bricks:

The school has started to encourage children to bring in clean single-use plastic from home including empty drink bottles in order to start making eco bricks. Our aim is to make a Christmas tree out of eco bricks to have in school! The council also wants to make pieces of furniture like stools and tables to use throughout school. They then hope to collaborate with other schools in order to create outdoor structures.

Litter Picks:

The council decided that they wanted to make the school grounds more welcoming and clean for our community. They made a rota and took it in turns to complete weekly litter picks both inside and outside of the school building. They are hoping more wildlife will be encouraged to live in the school grounds now.
